Every teacher pulls in the same direction
Movement, voice and acting are not saying different things in different rooms. They approach one idea from different angles, which removes the common problem of leaving a school holding three incompatible sets of instructions.
It is not a principles of acting course
It does not set out to teach the alphabet of the craft. The stated aim is coming alive as an actor, which is a different thing and is the part that transfers to a set.
Expect stretches of having no idea what you are doing

[Music] we do offer every summer from the middle of June to the end of July a six- week summer intensive that six- week summer session is long enough and intense enough that it can give someone a very uh in depth sense of what the studio does I heard from actors uh professional successful actors that this was a good place to learn it's been really exciting and invigorating and extremely challenging and there's moments where I was like what am I doing I have no idea what I'm doing and then moments where it's like oh this makes sense just the fact that he respects hard work and the time that it takes it's not an acting principle course it's not something that gives you the ABCs of acting it's a view as act and coming alive as act which is uh the most valuable tool you can have as a Storyteller yeah many people can't devote two years to their to their study either because they don't live in New York you know they come to the summer session from various parts of the country and people were able to free that amount of time to experience the studio programs uh we also have a lot of international students who come to the so s for about the first week and a half I just I was sitting in class just pinching myself going I can't believe it does it what I'm in New York in this class that's Bill esper he's just like he is in his book I Knew by reading the book that it was going to be an exceptional experience and it was and the 6 weeks only reconed it that it was amazing the best thing that this school does is it incorporates all the lessons into one meaning so it keeps it simple you know what your aiming for there isn't the teachers aren't divided in any way whatsoever you haven't got a movement teacher saying this and you haven't got a voice teacher saying something different you haven't got your acting teacher saying something else it's all the same it's all be yourself it's all open up they just do it in slightly different ways that was the most I think lovely thing is that I got to know these people these strangers who gave themselves every day to the work and to the craft and they gave themselves to me you know and I tried to reciprocate and that process is beautiful he is an icon uh in this business he's one of the most passionate intelligent knowledgeable human beings uh that we have and he's a treasure for us as AC if you if you're going to train yourself as an actor acting has to do with what goes on between people in order to train yourself as an actor you have to have the people in terms of their backgrounds their ethnic backgrounds their cultural background their ages it's that diversity is one of the things that makes this studio a very exciting place to study
