5 Things Actors Should Know About Strengthening an Online Casting Profile

Start from a finished basic profile
This is the second step in a three part sequence. It assumes you have already picked the casting site that suits you, filled in the basic profile information, and uploaded at least one strong headshot. If any of that is missing, go back and do it before adding extras.
Type means the kind of characters or roles you generally play. Rather than a spread of unrelated looks, add two or three images that all read as your type so casting sees a consistent idea of what you are.
The suggested set is a business or office setting shot relevant to your type, a casual but made up shot as if you were going out on a Saturday night, and a more casual shot as if you were hanging out with friends. Even the most casual one should still look nice.
If you have footage, add an on type reel to the profile. It shows casting how you sound and how you move, which is always stronger than a still image can be.
Submit yourself consistently and record the results. Log the website you submitted on, the details of each project and the headshot you used, then look at the pattern to see which sites are actually producing auditions for you. A free submission tracker is offered for this.
