HOW TO BE A BETTER ACTOR

uh how to be a better actor why on earth should you watch me telling you about this I mean who the hell am i I don't know you I don't know what part you're working on why on earth should be able to help you be a better actor well this video is for everyone it's for international film stars who are feeling stuck and they all feel stuck at times and it's for people who are just trying to work out their auditions for drama schools because all of us I think all of us forget to do one particular thing a lot of the time because we're busy because we don't have time because some of us don't even know about this and if we don't do this our acting is boring our acting isn't very interesting and we do do this all writing is interesting and it's one way to make our acting better and it's this it's flow that an actor's lines always always always mean something else lines always mean something else everything always means something else if someone says to you are you ready they mean come here they don't mean have you got your shoes on if they say come here they mean I'm getting angry if they speak Chinese and you speak Chinese they could say to you I'm getting angry in Chinese or they could say to you come here because the words come here mean I'm getting angry okay words always mean something else in the television series Breaking Bad when Skyler was kind of Skyler white who's married to Walter White the school teacher turned drug manufacturer when she says to him she wants a divorce when she says the line I want a divorce does the line mean I love you still or does the line mean I'm thinking of another man or does the line mean I want to kill you or does the line mean I want to kill myself the line means something the line is interesting we've got to work out what our lines mean if I say the line I need to talk to you does it mean I'm sorry about yesterday I need to talk to you does it mean I want to talk to you more than anyone's in the world I need to talk to you does it mean I tell you a really funny thing I need to talk to you it's gotta mean something then it's interesting otherwise it's not interesting it's boring a child of five hundred yards away knows that the line I need to talk to you means I need to talk to you it's got to mean something else as well then your acting is more interesting actors are called artists and should be called artists if they're artists because they create the characters where create the lines they work out what the lines mean lines always mean something else oh well thank you for watching I'm John Windsor coming up oh no i've covered one thing I'd miss out yes you can't ask a director you can't ask a director to help you with all of these things you can't they won't be able to anyway and if you can't get a good acting coach to do it you can call it to it all on your own just look at the script and think about all the possibilities just read through the script and imagine that where your character has said all of this before to someone else all of it but why is it different this time what line stands out is meaning something different and oh this line probably means that and why is it this characters birthday is at the birthday of the person they're talking to they do they find the person they're talking to attractive and then gradually find them less attractive when they say something else what's going on what is really behind the lines discover it yourself but do it because otherwise we might as well just have the person who sell the tickets read us the lines we go to the cinema in the theater just hear someone say the lines in a way that surprises that is clever it isn't obvious please [Music]
